The Battle of Earth begins today

You can now read the story of the Human Legion’s final campaign. The Battle of Earth Part1: Endgame and Part2: Restart are available now in the Kindle store to buy, or borrow for free if you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. Paperbacks are not yet ready, but should be by mid-week. I’m really proud of this double-bill climax and I think it benefited more from Recon Team advice than any other book, so thank you; it was a team endeavor. It’s been a while since the last main-line Legion novel, War Against the White Knights, was released, and I know some readers have subsequently come across me from my work with Revenge Squad, the Four Horsemen Universe or elsewhere. For both those […]

Kill the bad guys. Get paid… a lot.

My latest novel is out today. It’s my eleventh published one, although I have two more in the drawer that drew some trad publisher interest when it was being shopped around a decade ago. Sisters Sun and Blue are on the run from Earth, operating a mercenary company on behalf of a mysterious alien owner in another part of the galaxy. Many of the mercs are not even human, so when the company becomes embroiled in the repercussions of a crisis on Earth, the sisters have to ask themselves: what are they really fighting for? This novel is part of the Four Horsemen Universe published by Seventh Seal Press, and if you like the sound of it, you can jump […]

The Battle of Earth is coming

It’s done. The Battle of Earth will begin soon. I don’t normally type THE END, but it seemed fitting this afternoon, because today I finished writing the Human Legion. When you add in the spin off series, including the mighty Sleeping Legion from JR Handley, then once these final books are published, that will take it to 1.6 million published words in the Human Legion Universe. To put that in perspective, Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files novels weigh in at just under 2 million words, Harry Potter is 1.1 million (with 260,000 for Order of the Phoenix alone … I knew that book went on a bit!), and 1.25 million for Iain M. Banks’ Culture books. Recon teams are on standby, […]

Insurgency: Spartika is launched today.

The story of the Sleeping Legion concludes today with the launch of Insurgency: Spartika, in which the Legion faces its toughest foe. No guesses who since you know the title. For those who don’t know her, Spartika is a former Marine novice busted down to be an Aux slave. We meet her in Human Legion: Marine Cadet. By the time of Human Legion: Renegade Legion, she’s a human resistance leader who hooks up with the fledgling Human Legion. But she’s been biding her time as she’s seethed in her bitterness. She’s smart, ruthless, and she knows how the good guys think because she’s been a part of the Legion almost since its creation. Spartika is bad news, but there’s plenty […]

Book Launch: The Final Sleeping Legion Novel

Fantastic news for Sleeping Legion fans: the final instalment of the series will be launched on Friday, 15th December. Author JR Handley — aided by the editing team of Lauren Moore, Thomas Weaver Spence, and Corey Truax – has delivered a corker of a conclusion. Alien allies with their own agenda, buried relics and ancient mysteries revealed, and the secrets of Cardamine island rooted out by the barrel of the Marines ordered in to take Kalino – even some surprises from the Rakasa system where Lance Scipio earned his stripes in The Demons of Kor-Lir: you’ll encounter all this and more in Insurgency: Spartika. And, as the title, suggests, the final instalment features the baddest bad-ass on Tranquility: Spartika. When […]

Revenge Squad and Four Horsemen book launches today

We have bountiful science fiction goodness for you today. Second Strike is out today in paperback and Kindle editions, the latter at the special launch price of 99c or whatever not very much is in other stores. It was supposed to be just another job: trash the cargo of a shipping line that had been messing with a Revenge Squad client. Honestly, I hadn’t meant to blow the ship sky high. And when it transpired that the ship was owned by the most powerful man in Port Zahir, and that he blamed us for the damage he’d suffered, it was Revenge Squad’s turn to face revenge. My name is NJ McCall, and this is the story of how I helped […]
