My orcs rise from the ashes of a post-apoc anthology

In case you missed it, my latest anthology came out last week in From the Ashes, the latest anthology from Bayonet Books. The theme for this anthology is the post-apocalypse and my story features orcs, humans and Chinese vampire deer in the ruins of Bedfordshire. I haven’t read all the other tales yet, but I read Walt Robillard’s story and its full-on action that also features orcs and humans. But the orcs in Walt’s case are three meters tall and wield sharpened road signs as axes. Nice. (Walt’s the voice talent on the Human Empire audio, BTW, which is very close to completion now). I’ve been in three of the four Bayonet Books anthologies to come out over the past […]

Human Legion Deluxe box set 1

The first of two Human Legion box sets has just been released. I’m going to add as many of the short stories, novelettes, articles and author notes as I can*, which is why I added the ‘deluxe’ label. I hope you feel it’s justified! It’s a cool image of a slipcase box, but regrettably, that’s just the publishing fashion and this is only available as a Kindle book. The good part of that, though, is that if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, you can borrow this for free and skip to the bonus material if that’s what you prefer. CONTENTS 2741 AD – Preface 2565 AD – Marine Cadet (novel + new author notes) 2566 AD – Indigo Squad […]

If you’ve not yet started with Chimera Company, there’s a deal on the first season of this space opera adventure until Christmas. There’s plenty more Chimera Company coming your way next year. Next up from […]

Chimera Company: Deep Cover is out now

The second season of Chimera Company launched last night. In Chimera Company: Deep Cover the team needs to stop running and turn and fight against the evils swirling about Far Reach Federation. There are nine issues, with a new one releasing every Tuesday, to be followed by a boxed set and paperback collection. If you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, then it’s your lucky day because you can read them all for free. If not, well they’re priced at 99c/p/e per issue for most regions. If you haven’t read Season 1: Rho-Torkis, then you can go back and read it now, or join in the weekly thrills right here with Season 2. Here are a few of the things I’ve got […]

The latest chapter in the Human Legion Universe story is now live with the launch issue of Chimera Company available from Amazon. It’s a full-throttle science fiction adventure serial told in weekly episodes that will take roughly 60-90 minutes to read. And for those who would rather enjoy the story all in one go, there’s a season boxed set and audiobook on the way in the coming weeks. You can find out more on the Chimera Company page. Or watch the video. Or just go ahead and buy (or borrow for free in Kindle Unlimited) the first issue from the following Kindle Stores USA | UK | CA | AUS (and elsewhere by going to the USA site first). If […]

New Year. New books are here.

I hope you had a marvelous holiday season. We spent Christmas with my parents and it was great to see several generations getting on so well and relaxing after a hard year. I’m almost ready to release the season Chimera Company issues to Insiders (I’m hoping next week), but I wanted today to let you know about Legion alumnus JR Handley. First off, JR put together his first anthology a month ago, Backblast Area Clear. It’s got an Ember War story from Richard Fox, a Chimera Company universe story from me and plenty of other goodies. Anyway, I wanted to mention the book because in the US there’s a 99c Kindle deal that ends tonight (I think). It’s always good […]

Chimera Company is mobilizing

The Chimera Company artwork from Cape Town artist Vincent Sammy is coming in now and helping me the visualize the scenes as I get ready to write the last couple of issues of season 1. The portrait you seeing here is of Militia Trooper Lily Hjon, a disgraced captain busted down to the ranks and placed in a punishment company. Some say Lily holds a few grudges; most know to keep such thoughts to themselves. Lily has an all-body tattoo, but it’s not the kind of traditional ink worn by Lance Scipio and many of the characters in the books from earlier series. Hers is a viral-written bioprogram that writes itself as pigmentation directly into the skin. The color palette […]

The Legions are Legion. Anspach, Taylor, Thomas and Cole.

Here’s a quick update on the Battle of Earth Campaign. First of all, thank you to everyone who’s supported the Legion by buying and reading the books. I can’t do this without you. Sales are in the slow lane but the books are still selling. Just a reminder that if you like the books then you can do a lot to help determine whether they will be a success or not by leaving a review on Amazon, and if you post a link to your review here and tell me who your favorite Legion character is, I’ll enter you in the Battle of Earth prize draw. A great surprise is that the older Legion books are starting to sell a […]

The Battle of Earth begins today

You can now read the story of the Human Legion’s final campaign. The Battle of Earth Part1: Endgame and Part2: Restart are available now in the Kindle store to buy, or borrow for free if you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. Paperbacks are not yet ready, but should be by mid-week. I’m really proud of this double-bill climax and I think it benefited more from Recon Team advice than any other book, so thank you; it was a team endeavor. It’s been a while since the last main-line Legion novel, War Against the White Knights, was released, and I know some readers have subsequently come across me from my work with Revenge Squad, the Four Horsemen Universe or elsewhere. For both those […]
