June 13, 2016Okay, you’ve seen this image of NJ McCall before, but here he is with his final cover text (click or tap on the main image for a full-length view). He doesn’t look very happy, and if you read the book, you’ll understand why. Don’t worry, though, after the scene captured in this image things get better for NJ (before they get much, much worse…).
In the course of delivering entertainment thrills, this book treads on some potentially treacherous ground that I want to get right: corruption, racism, combat veterans finding it tough to adjust to civilian life, and extreme farming to mention just a few. So I’m hoping you will help me out and read through the beta version which should be ready in a couple months. In the Legionary Bulletin, I’ll be giving download links to the beta for anyone who wants to take a look. I’m thinking of setting up a forum so we can discuss the beta draft online. And I’m also thinking of doing the same for the final Human Legion book and the forthcoming Sleeping Legion books by J.R. Handley. You can read the first scene about NJ McCall here.
If you haven’t already, you can get your hands on the Legionary Bulletin by joining the Legion here. Bulletin #1 out very soon.
Talking of joining the Legion, thank you to everyone who joined up in the past month. The audiobook competition is now closed and I’ll be putting the names into the randomizer later this week. Good luck if you signed up in time. There will be more competitions for swag to follow, so sign up without delay!
Finally, back to the image. It was created by artist Vincent Sammy. I would be inclined to say it might be his best work, except I’ve seen the preliminary sketch for the cover of the second Revenge Squad book. Vincent is a pleasure to work with, a real professional, and one of the good things about these pieces of artwork is that with the details of the Revenge Squad books still being written, I’ve actually changed some of the descriptions of the characters based on how Vincent has portrayed them, which makes it more of a genuine conversation between artist and author than I’m used to.

I’m in love with the new cover art!!!
Sure is a different look from the other books. I would, like to be a Beta reader again…how soon before they are out to be read?
Via La Human Legion!!!!
That’s good to hear, Melissa. I’m going to send it to developmental editing first, so the book will be ready for beta round about Independence Day.
