Cover reveal: Hill 435

The next Legion Bulletin going out very soon to signed up Legionaries will have download links to a new Human Legion short story. Actually, it isn’t new because it’s a slightly revised version of the story I sold to the Crises & Conflicts anthology by Newcon Press a while back, but since that hasn’t sold much, most of you won’t have seen this, and that’s a shame because I’m very proud of it. I can’t tell you too much about it because it would give away some of the twists, but there is plenty of action and hopefully a surprise or two. Today I’ve built the eBook and put some cover art together. I… ahem… have been known to occasionally have bad judgement on cover art, so I’d like to know what you think…

Introducing Sci Fi Explorations

A new science fiction venture is officially launched today: SciFiExplorations.com. I’m not involved myself, not yet anyway, but it looks good enough that I’ve signed up. So what exactly is Sci Fi Explorations? Well, there’s a website, naturally, and a mailing list. Sign up and receive a short story called Steel Eye from Ralph Kern, a new author I’ve been hearing good things about. “His first novel is a bit like Andy Weir’s ‘The Martian’,” someone told me.  She may have meant that Ralph Kern has an unhealthy obsession with potatoes and duct tape, but it’s an interesting enough recommendation to look deeper. Lots of Great Company! … And Cake!!   I’ll be there all afternoon but I’m on at 4pm for the launch of Crises and Conflicts, an anthology of military SF short stories from many fine writers that includes a new Human Legion story. There […]

Welcome to the worlds of the Human Legion
As I write this, I can hear the bustle of preparation all around me. Battlesuit AIs are being calibrated with new human occupants, Fermi Canons test fired, and cadet squads are being pitted against each other to weed out the units and individuals who are not fit to take the fight to the stars as a proud part of the Human Marine Corps. Preparations for launch are progressing well with editors selected, artists sought, and all five novels sketched out. It was time to establish a bridgehead in cyberspace and so now we are here at www.humanlegion.com Hold up! I thought this was the Human Legion, not the Human Marine Corps. What gives? The Human Legion series of novels is about transformation. Those characters who survive to the final book are profoundly changed by their journey. As individuals change so […]
