Well… I wouldn’t call it a harem. When I wrote the first short story that sparked this series, I went back and rewrote most of it because I realized that I had completely ignored the idea of where and when children are born and raised. By the end, the whole story centered on children. Before even that, the first print magazine that published me did so with a story about a human colony ‘terra’forming a planet for the White Knights. Having a workforce that can expand its numbers rapidly is all part of the plan. So I’m not coy about this topic (as I guess I’ve already covered it in print). But what you don’t get is all the girls throwing themselves at Arun’s feet and then not existing when he’s not paying them attention. What starts off with Arun in the first book as a series of youthful obsessions with women is a thread that builds and becomes more serious as the series progresses. I’m sure of that because I wrote a key scene on that topic today that fits into book 6 🙂
