Star Crusades by Michael G. Thomas is on special offer

I posted earlier today that I’d share if I came across a new release or special offer that I thought might be of interest. I don’t intend to do this regularly, but here’s the second of today, so what do I know? Michael G. Thomas has written plenty of space opera and military science fiction novels and seems very popular. I’ve never read him, but when I noticed today that he’s offering a bundle of the first three Star Crusades novels for 99 cents, I bought them. This isn’t a recommendation as such (but only because I’ve yet to read any of his books) but you might want to try him out if he’s new to you too. If you check it out, please verify the price before you buy as it might change. Star Crusades at amazon.com Star Crusades at […]

Star Crusades: Nexus on special offer

As part of my if-I-see-a-book-on-special-offer-I-might-mention-it posts, ‘Star Crusades Nexus: The First Trilogy’ by Michael G. Thomas is currently going for 99c/99p on Amazon Kindle. Here’s the US link and here’s the UK one. I’ve just picked up a copy myself having enjoyed the first series, which I found to be good, stripped down, basic military SF adventure stories. Just what I was looking for at the time. I’m guessing this price drop is temporary, but I don’t know as it’s nothing to do with me. I hope this helps Mr. Thomas to win new fans. I’ve got a new book coming out soon of my own. Not sure whether I’ve mentioned it yet 🙂  Here’s another sneak peak. You might recognize the image. It is stock art I bought from Shutterstock from an excellent artist called Algol. I liked it […]

Jack Campbell’s Lost Fleet — going cheap… Gone :-(

update… GONE cheap. Unfortunately, these books went up to full price within hours of me posting this. I did enjoy the Lost Fleet books I’ve read before, but didn’t feel  they were special enough to justify the much higher price than that charged by self-published authors. I guess the sale worked for the publisher. Big time! Just take a look in the screen cap below at the clean sweep the series is making of the charts right now. I wonder how sustainable that is at the higher price. Good luck to them, anyway.    The Lost Fleet is a very popular space fleet series. Even here in Bedford, England, the science fiction shelves in the book stores, and the library where I do much of my writing, are filled with these books. I’ve read some and think there very good with what […]

Renegade Legion: available to pre-order now

Arun McEwan had a tough time in the first two Human Legion books. Well, guess what? Now he’s in charge, and it’s going to get a whole lot tougher in Renegade Legion. You can pre-order the Kindle edition now by following this link, for delivery by Whispersync on the publication date of June 6th. You won’t have to wait quite that long, though. I know some of you are eager to read on, so I’ll make you an offer: if you buy the Kindle book on pre-release, but want the book before June 6th, then let me know by emailing humanlegionbooks@gmail.com.  As soon as  I have the release version of the Kindle book ready, I’ll email it to you. You don’t need to prove you bought the book, I’ll take it on trust. I need to give Amazon the final version of the […]

Renegade Legion Mobilization Update

Releasing a new book in a series is like going all-in at poker: the bet has to pay off or the rest of the series is doomed to commercial failure. So I thought I’d share out some of the nail-biting with a progress update. A few minutes ago, I sent the final draft version of the Kindle book to Amazon. If you’re in the Recon Team, but haven’t finished the book yet, that’s fine. If you still have fixes and suggestions, I can add them later on, although from this point I’m going to have to argue much harder to convince myself to make changes. The Kindle edition is on pre-order until June 6th, which is D-Day for me as I will go into action with more promotion.  If you’re thinking of ordering but haven’t made up your mind, get the pre-order now […]

Who is Ian Whates?

My co-writer, Ian Whates, is going to be vital to the conclusion of the Human Legion series. I’m sure fans will be curious to learn more about him, so I’ve interviewed him to reveal his darkest secrets. At the bottom are some links to his most recent novel which is Deal of the Day on Amazon. Now read on… TIM: So, Ian, I’m trying to think how long we’ve known each other. About 2008, I think. Even before we’d met in the flesh, we’d unknowingly encountered each other as aspiring SF writers because we were both getting published in the same SF magazines. In fact, it was a magazine that brought us together. I used to subscribe to Interzone, which is the premier British magazine for short SF fiction. Within Interzone’s pages I enjoyed the stories of an author called […]

Human Empire is out now

I’m very pleased to announce my first collaborative writing project, Human Empire, the fourth in the six-book Human Legion series, is now available to buy from the Amazon Kindle Store here. It’s got space battles, aliens, treachery… all the usual good stuff. We’re moving up in scale too. Ian and I wrote scenes with dozens of ships and tens of thousands of people. Admittedly, we didn’t exactly describe each person’s experience in detail, but we think there’s a greater feeling of scale in this book, something that’s going to get even bigger with the next one. As normal, the book will initially be on sale for a bargain launch price of 99c/99p or local equivalent for at least a few days. I’ve been told off by fans for making my books too cheap. We’re doing the launch price discount partially to reward readers of […]
