The Six Secrets of Chimera Company

The Time Dogz are here!
March 14, 2024Seasonal time travel greetings

It’s time to pack away my writing pens for another year. I hope you’ve had a good one, and I want to thank all my readers for your support over 2023 and all the years I’ve been doing this (I’m about to hit 13 years since I went full time).
As you know, the past 18 months have been difficult for me for a number of reasons, mostly because I’ve not been well, and my writing rate collapsed – not fun when you do this for a living!
The good news is that I’m now cruising at about 70% of what I could do a couple of years ago, which means I’m stringing those sentences together again and I’m now back in book launch mode.
After finishing off the Chimera Company series for Theogony Books (with The Last Redoubt), I’ve been beavering away at my Time Travel adventure series, Time Dogz. The first three novels are written and undergoing some last proofing checks for a launch in a few weeks.
I’m hoping Santa brings our wonderful artist, Vincent Sammy, a box of colored crayons for Christmas, because he’s still got some coloring in to do. The pencil sketches are in and look fantastic, so I’ll share them now as a New Year’s promise.

So what’s it about? And why write another time travel series when I wrote The Reality War back in 2009/10?
Well, The Reality War was about the enormous ripple effect of a single event, which stretches its fingers not only across the two books of the Reality War but also deep into all the Human Legion books.
I wanted to go in the opposite direction. What if you could do whatever you wanted in the past and it didn’t matter…?
Of course, in the background you need people like the TimeDogz to fix history when it breaks too much but, hey, that’s why the time industries charge such high fees. It’s all inclusive for our valued customers. Nothing for you to worry about.
There are plenty of ‘time police’ series out there. The principal character in Time Dogz is Stiletto Caldwell and he’s more of a time janitor, a reluctant anti-hero who mops up the time mess when there’s a spillage somewhere in history.
Everyone loves a little coloring in…

Yes, Blake’s 7 fans, that is a teleport bracelet.

Book 3 blends a 1980s heavy metal time crime with a Cold War spy mystery set behind the Iron Curtain in the English People’s Democratic Republic.
Time Travel in Rock: 1984.
I can’t tell you how lucky I am to be writing books that can carry a title like that.
That’s it for 2023, except to wish you a Happy Christmas and my best wishes for the New Year.
(Of course, with the Time Dogz, if 2024 doesn’t meet your expectations, ring them up and they’ll go back in time and fix things for you 😉 )
