Just a quick update to let you know that my latest release isn’t You Pay; We Slay as I had thought. Instead, it’s the audiobook edition of In The Wings. That’s how it often works: the audiobook editions pop up at a random date a while after the eBook and paperback.
For my story in this anthology, I bought a collection of Robert E. Howard Conan the Barbarian stories and read the lot. I wanted my alien space monster to play the role of Conan, you see.
To be honest, I don’t think anyone will listen to the result and see any connection, but I don’t mind because I’m proud of my story and had a wonderful time doing my research.
I’m ashamed to say I had never previously read Robert E. Howard. Wow! He was a highly accomplished author. Absolutely wonderful. And hasn’t dated as much as far more recent authors.
Even better, I now get to listen to everyone else’s stories from In the Wings.
Next release up from me will be You Pay; We Slay on Jan 28th.
In other news, the paperback edition is finally available for On Deadly Ground, my latest anthology, which features a Time Dogz story. I’m looking forward to getting a copy to go alongside my other Bayonet Books anthologies. Jamie Glover has done fantastic work on the artwork for all of them.
Finally, JR Handley’s been writing from the heart about why he writes the stories he does and how they relate to the memories of the people he left behind in Iraq. If you’ve enjoyed JR’s books, I think you’ll gain an important perspective on them and on JR himself if you read his latest newsletter, which you can find here: https://mailchi.mp/9c39505ab2f4/august-in-handleyville-6094965 . He puts his war stories toward the end.
