The Subjugation of Humanity
March 21, 2017
He writes! He talks! He has a new book out. It’s JR Handley!
March 29, 2017After a good day tidying up the ending to Second Strike (honest, Ronnie!) I wanted to do a little experiment. Can you see an image below this text? Is it animated (UPDATE: you now need to click/tap on the image to get the big/flashy version), and if it does, is it irritating as hell? By the way, if you know Marine Cadet you might remember that when we first meet Arun McEwan, he’s getting into trouble deep underground in alien tunnels, and those are the tunnels you can see in the background of this image (okay it’s clearer in closeup). Don’t want to give too much away about the climax to the Human Legion series coming later in the year, but in Marine Cadet, Arun was given an alien pheromone implant. He hasn’t done with that yet. Nor with tunnels. Except this time, he’s not fighting on an alien world.
Thanks, Tim.
The artist, both for the cover image, and the banner design, is Vincent Sammy. I think he’s done a tasty bit of work here.

I like it! It’s not irritating at all. Kind of cool and works for me.
Thanks Andy, appreciate it.
Looks good to me!! 🙂
Thank you, Mr. Handley.
I like it, the animation isn’t irritating at all ☺
Thanks, PJ. Interesting that different people have such different responses to the flashing.
It is interesting, I didn’t think about the possibility of it causing seizures so I’m glad Joseph caught it and that you were able to do the opt-in.
The flashing cover could be seizure inducing?
Good point. I checked in with some Epilepsy support groups to understand more about strobe-induced seizures and as a result have adapted the post to make it more ‘opt-in’. I want everyone to have a good time and not get hurt. That is, except for the bad people in the books, of course, who deserve everything that’s coming to them 🙂
I Like the book cover, but i’m sorry to say I Do find the animation irritating.
Thanks for letting me know, Marten. I think I would find it annoying if it was on my screen for an extended length of time. I’m surprised you’re the first to say so though.
