Chimera Company launch issue

The latest chapter in the Human Legion Universe story is now live with the launch issue of Chimera Company available from Amazon. It’s a full-throttle science fiction adventure serial told in weekly episodes that will take roughly 60-90 minutes to read. And for those who would rather enjoy the story all in one go, there’s a season boxed set and audiobook on the way in the coming weeks. You can find out more on the Chimera Company page. Or watch the video. Or just go ahead and buy (or borrow for free in Kindle Unlimited) the first issue from the following Kindle Stores USA | UK | CA | AUS (and elsewhere by going to the USA site first). If you enjoy the story, it would be a great help if you left a review on Amazon or elsewhere. I […]

Chimera Company is go…

My Star Wars-meets-2000AD weekly space opera serial is now available for pre-order* with the launch issue dropping April 30th. You can grab a look now* at this link. Scroll down at the Amazon book page and you’ll see an interview with me talking about the series. This is my first major new launch for a couple of years and I’m totally excited for Season 1, although I have to say at the moment, Season 2 is shaping up to be even better. I’ve been busy on other fronts too: we’re making progress on audio production for Human Legion and Chimera Company, I’ve pitched a book trilogy set in a popular science fiction franchise, and outlined my first post-apocalyptic story for an anthology due out later this year. The latter features orcs and real-life vampire deer, which look like the picture […]

New Year. New books are here.

I hope you had a marvelous holiday season. We spent Christmas with my parents and it was great to see several generations getting on so well and relaxing after a hard year. I’m almost ready to release the season Chimera Company issues to Insiders (I’m hoping next week), but I wanted today to let you know about Legion alumnus JR Handley. First off, JR put together his first anthology a month ago, Backblast Area Clear. It’s got an Ember War story from Richard Fox, a Chimera Company universe story from me and plenty of other goodies. Anyway, I wanted to mention the book because in the US there’s a 99c Kindle deal that ends tonight (I think). It’s always good value, but if you were hesitating for some strange reason, then grab it now. Secondly, JR’s teamed up with his […]

The first Chimera Company story is out now, published by someone else!

I’m very proud to announce that I have a novelette in a military science fiction anthology that was released yesterday, and better still, it’s a standalone Chimera Company story. Backblast Area Clear was put together by no less than JR Handley and features stories from Richard Fox, MD Cooper, CJ Carella, JR Castle, Scott Moon, Josh Hayes, JR Handley, Chris Winder, Rick Partlow, Navin Weeraratne, and Logan Scott. With artwork from Jamie Glover, and Ellen Campbell pulling the editing levers. I haven’t read the other stories yet, but the pedigree is top notch and I’ll be doing so on the flight over to Canada tomorrow to see my brother get married. I’m going to be very quiet for a week while I’m overseas, but I’m so excited about this launch that I wanted to share the news before I left. […]

Chimera Company is mobilizing

The Chimera Company artwork from Cape Town artist Vincent Sammy is coming in now and helping me the visualize the scenes as I get ready to write the last couple of issues of season 1. The portrait you seeing here is of Militia Trooper Lily Hjon, a disgraced captain busted down to the ranks and placed in a punishment company. Some say Lily holds a few grudges; most know to keep such thoughts to themselves. Lily has an all-body tattoo, but it’s not the kind of traditional ink worn by Lance Scipio and many of the characters in the books from earlier series. Hers is a viral-written bioprogram that writes itself as pigmentation directly into the skin. The color palette of her tattoos depend on the nutrients the bioprogram can extract from her diet. If you want to get in […]

The Legions are Legion. Anspach, Taylor, Thomas and Cole.

Here’s a quick update on the Battle of Earth Campaign. First of all, thank you to everyone who’s supported the Legion by buying and reading the books. I can’t do this without you. Sales are in the slow lane but the books are still selling. Just a reminder that if you like the books then you can do a lot to help determine whether they will be a success or not by leaving a review on Amazon, and if you post a link to your review here and tell me who your favorite Legion character is, I’ll enter you in the Battle of Earth prize draw. A great surprise is that the older Legion books are starting to sell a little more: enough to get in a few Amazon charts. Here’s the view from the amazon.co.uk Galactic Empire chart this […]

The Battle of Earth begins today

You can now read the story of the Human Legion’s final campaign. The Battle of Earth Part1: Endgame and Part2: Restart are available now in the Kindle store to buy, or borrow for free if you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. Paperbacks are not yet ready, but should be by mid-week. I’m really proud of this double-bill climax and I think it benefited more from Recon Team advice than any other book, so thank you; it was a team endeavor. It’s been a while since the last main-line Legion novel, War Against the White Knights, was released, and I know some readers have subsequently come across me from my work with Revenge Squad, the Four Horsemen Universe or elsewhere. For both those reasons, I’ve written these two novels so you don’t need to have read the preceding books to enjoy them, but […]

The Battle of Earth is coming

It’s done. The Battle of Earth will begin soon. I don’t normally type THE END, but it seemed fitting this afternoon, because today I finished writing the Human Legion. When you add in the spin off series, including the mighty Sleeping Legion from JR Handley, then once these final books are published, that will take it to 1.6 million published words in the Human Legion Universe. To put that in perspective, Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files novels weigh in at just under 2 million words, Harry Potter is 1.1 million (with 260,000 for Order of the Phoenix alone … I knew that book went on a bit!), and 1.25 million for Iain M. Banks’ Culture books. Recon teams are on standby, and I’ll be building the recon editions and sending them on next Monday. I’m enormously excited to share the conclusion […]
